Dan Ionescu
Dan Ionescu was born in Romania
where he studied art
and architecture. After graduating from New York's
Pratt Institute he worked as an architectural
designer for one of the City's most eminent architectural
firms. For the last ten years he has owned his
own architectural studio in the Union Square
area. His projects include large scale urban
planning, resorts and hotels, retail, restaurants,
and commercial offices
and his work has been published both in the U.S.
and internationally. In 2005 he became known
around the world for designing and building a
cradle to support the nest of New York City's
celebrity Redtail Hawks, Pale Male and Lola. View

As a photographer, Dan's architectural eye is evidenced throughout his work and many of his photographs incorporate structures or grids. A part-time resident of the Catskills for many years and seven year Sullivan County homeowner, Dan with his wife, Caroline, has opened Sidedoor Gallery to present an ongoing visual reflection on this colorful and changing landscape. |
